Why Do We Body Store Fat?

Prehistoric humans were battling for their survival and trying to find food. When food was in abundance, excess food that was consumed was stored as fat to help protect against times when food was scarce. These early humans are responsible for the way our metabolism works. That survival mechanism is why your body stores fat for when food is in short supply.

The problem is that you no longer need to store fat to protect against lean times but your body doesn’t know the difference. It couldn't care less about how you look or long term health consequences. This fat gets stored in unsightly areas including the stomach, lower back, chest, legs and upper arms.

Your body doesn’t let you pick and choose where it stores fat. In order to lose fat in those unsightly areas, you must lose fat overall. You can't choose to only lose fat on your stomach. Your body doesn't work that way. But if you lose it overall, you'll lose it on the stomach too.
